Our Sunshine Coast is very beautiful, but if I could arrange it, it would be even nicer if somehow we could just have normal length days, instead of these gloomy short ones. Oh, I know we have daylight saving at the moment, but really, it doesn’t help that much.
My feeling on that is we should forget about it altogether, just like Saskatchewan does. |
They try to do this remotely, and high-tech, attaching a long rope to the handle, then pulling on it. It’s then a case of who runs first--the bear or the cop! So far no injuries other than car write offs. There’s an APB out for the bear.
It's a NO to the seed catalogues!
It’s the first year for a long time that I won’t be worrying about seedlings. Instead, hopefully, we’ll be able to do some carefree travelling, even the local variety of this would be good. Along the way you’ll see some changes on this website too. Change is always exciting. Learning new things is such a magical thing, and never needs to stop.
On with the new for 2019 planning
I have 10 lemons and 2 limes on the trees right now, so this is a pretty high stakes project! Of course I’m hoping for the same results as you’ll see in the video below. Their little shelter is right near the front porch.
Much as it breaks my heart, I have to remove all but three lemons from the very small tree. I’m more interested in having the trees make some vertical growth now that they are out of their pots.
Word of caution--if you get inspired to do the same thing, wait until next year! Your outside grown fruit trees need to make roots before the harshness of winter sets in. Also, be aware, it is a risk, even in our moderate climate.
Be warned, I’m baking Christmas cakes, those seasonal things that so many people hate, while others love them. The risk in giving these for gifts is like Russian Roulette!
