Why did I stop using it, I wonder? Was it because of all the extra little add-on things that allow it to do its job? Or was it because I'd put them away in that bag so efficiently, and forgotten to take them out? Did my present passion, the Dyson stick vacuum just take over? Or my spin mop? I love that thing, whenever I'm in the mood to actually deal with dust and mysterious stuff on the kitchen floor.
Here’s Friday again. Last week ( how do the weeks go by so fast?) I felt very briefly inspired to do my spring cleaning, methodically working through, room by room. I brought out all the required tools. Among them there was a quite nice big bag of appendages that were for something. It took me a while to realise they belonged to a steam cleaner thingy bought in a weak moment some years ago. I remembered it had actually worked quite well.

Let's get to it
Back to the dust. Seriously, how can so much of it reappear so quickly? There are two new homes being built nearby, but I can't believe they'd create all this dust mayhem. And actually, as I look more closely, it's more like tiny white particles. I read somewhere that most household dust is created by the folks who live there…like pet dander. Now I have visions of my dearly beloved and I shedding dander like two long haired cats or dogs as we move around in the house.
Don't get me wrong. It's not as if everyone chokes when they visit. Maybe they're just being nice, but people don't seem to see the dust in our home. It's just me that seems to notice it.at one time I thought of getting one of those air cleaner things you can buy. They're supposed to remove the gunk in the air you breathe when you're inside. I got quite excited, thinking about this machine unobtrusively removing all dust particles and saving me the whole dusting experience. But then I read they only clean the air in the room you happen to be in at the time. Well, that's not much use to me.
Yesterday was a washout too. I started out with good intentions, but by the time I finished other chores, and wandered around in the garden a bit, cleaning time was over. I'm very adamant that only mornings are for cleaning, but I was willing to be flexible during this time of emergency dusting and mopping.
Beware of distractions
Takes a couple of hours to right the problems of the world over Starbucks lattes. We managed it. Strangely the only time we discussed house cleaning was to snort at June's efforts to hire a housekeeper. $90 per hour for a couple of young chicks, who didn’t even do a good job. So she’s in the market for another house cleaner. I’m thinking this whole thing might work out better if I worked out of here for one day!
Hope you'll enjoy a sunny, lovely weekend, like we seem to have here on the sunshine coast of British Columbia.
And please, work on saving our planet. It's the only one with chocolate!
