An Uh Oh Moment!
When you realise - fully realise - something's scuttled your plans, it's just like this magnolia blossom feels. One moment you're blooming your heart out, next minute you're just a mass of petals on the ground.
Want consistency or substance?
I've learned something valuable over the time of writing here . . . Consistency is key to keeping my valued readers happy. If I don't get this published around my usual day and even time, they can get quite concerned, sweet thangs that they are, and I'll start getting emails that I've now interfered with their morning coffee time, or whatever else they've built into their routine! Talk about a guilt trip!
In the beginning...
I naively reasoned just about everyone in my life would have had some loss or other, and would be dying ( no pun intended) to read my words of wisdom. At that time I hadn't reckoned on the fact that there are estimated to be about 450 million blogs, increasing rapidly every day. Seems like lots of people have stories they want to tell!
So starting a blog ( web log) that you'd like to have recognized takes time, patience and commitment before people find your tiny blogging home in cyber space! It's a huge place, inhabited by some powerful people, some really awful, scammy, scummy ones, and lots of people who're really nice too. You can choose which ones you want to associate with - which ones will be your friends.
The virtual world has neighborhoods. You can visit your friends anytime it's convenient for you. Your friends might be all over the world, and you don't all wake up at the same time, so it makes sense that it has to be at your convenience.
However, you don't just barge in, unannounced. You leave them a calling card, in the form of an email, a virtual greeting card, or a comment on something they've written. Something nice is always preferred, and never in capital letters unless you really want them to think you're shouting.
Or you can decide to see what they've been up to and turn to one of your chosen social networking sites. It's sort of like meeting everyone in cyberspace in one coffee shop. It can get pretty noisy.
Changes
So this week, with the ever patient femme, I changed a couple of headers. Headers are the pretty bits of titles and photos up top that tell you which area of the website you're on. I keep on thinking of these sort of things, and the good part is they always seem to help me take another step forward, rather than backward. So it can't be a bad thing, can it?
It's like redecorating your home. It just gets so exciting sometimes. Unfortunately, along with my co-conspirator, femme, I got so carried away I thought I'd actually try making a video for this week's spin. I'd only forgotten one thing - I hadn't learned yet to splice the things I needed!!
Then I ended up with special company too, from the mainland. So, I know you'll all understand and forgive this blog for having only a few important notes about processes and changes and without a new business, artist, organization, event or opinion on something to share with you.
Happily for me, several thousand of you now share your precious time with me, and I'm so grateful and delighted to know many of you in such a personal way. My cyber-friends and family have equal appreciation and importance to those in the flesh I spend time with in everyday life.
