People often ask me, “How do you think of things to write about?.” Well, I guess thoughts happen to everyone. It’s just that some folks choose to write about them! The more you start doing this, the easier it gets. The old saying, practice makes perfect really does work. Not necessarily the writing, because that’s a subjective thing. Some you like, some you don’t. |
It’s estimated that there are about 171,476 words in the English language. Each professional writer probably won’t use more than 3000 of them most times, even though some written works are quite extensive.
On the other hand, you can’t help noticing some folks use very few words, often four-letter expletives, which make no sense in the context they’re used.

You can almost have a party just with the envelope for your card! Use it as your way to express your art. As long as you have your address as the sender, and the person you’re sending to, (otherwise known as the recipient) is also addressed properly, the rest of that space is yours to do whatever you want! Rubber stamps, stickers, artwork, and unlimited other things are all just fine, and give so much pleasure to the recipient of your work.
The pandemic stopped all kinds of joy in the lives of most folks. Confusion, freer, grief over the loss of loved ones, and even the disappearance of treasured social activities ruled every day for more than two years. But thinking didn’t stop. Writing down the thoughts gave a certain continuity to whoever did it. Bloggers are usually pretty compulsive about doing this, so for most weeks, through illness or whatever came along in life, I still managed to write something! It didn’t really matter about the topic--it was just the thoughts that somehow transformed into writing for others to read.
Everything you write becomes your legacy. And I really keep the precious cards from those who write on them just for me. They are grateful mementos of other lives that have touched mine.
If you've got things you prefer to write down, I encourage you to share them in the comments. I'd love to read all about it!
