Our endlessly enterprising and resourceful Maria Couchara Jordan somehow managed to get it to us. We think she turned everything on, as needed; winning smiles, tears, coaxing and pleading, and finally a direct order to Chef Geoff must have done the trick!
We even have a photo which adds to the deliciousness of the occasion. Many thanks for this contribution, Maria. Your big couchara (spoon) works wonders on this occasion.
The rest of this page is written by dear friend Maria. Its gonna be a thing of beauty! Thanks to both the Jordans!
I love the well-formulated idea that Vicki has for the Bachelor's Cookbook -- a most worthwhile, helpful and practical endeavor.
Here's a short introduction to our recipe competition that's underway at this time ...
This recipe doesn't count, though, because I have submitted my story to the M&M project, however, I still encourage my fellow Legacy Scribes to share your signature recipes with Vicki as well.
If you have not been a contributor to our wonderful fund raising M&M books, you have a great opportunity to submit your recipe to the competition now!
The Mysterious and Miraculous team is waiting for your simple recipes to be donated for this wonderful cause! Please take the time to read and be inspired.
Thanks a bunch for answering the call to help those struggling to find time or reasons for cooking! The deadline for our competition entries is July 31 2014.
Details are on this post. (Click HERE for details!)
The plan is to develop and publish a cookbook of simple recipes, and 70% of all proceeds from this will go to K9s For Warriors Project/Rescue.
Okay ... on to the food!!
Budget Stretching Belly Busting Beef Stroganoff
After years of flexibility with a two career marriage, the Jordans are experts at having meals on hand for on the go singular dining when our schedules are mirror-opposite.
Enticing aromas from a crock pot and the wildly-effusive barking and tail wagging welcome from Aunt Baby (our loveable labrador) make an evening class seem like a walk in the park.
Beef Stroganoff has been a favorite for years with us. This recipe is simple, economical and delicious. As you see the recipe yields 4 - 6 servings and freezes beautifully. Because of some of the ingredients, the recipe is difficult to halve.
From the bachelor who is trying to impress a lady with minimal fuss to the career couples who want to throw a simple dinner party with friends, Beef Stroganoff is a winner every time. Combine this comfort food with Bonnie's Blueberry Fluff for dessert and your guests will be forever friends.
It's this easy... check it out!
* 2 lbs beef cubes (round or chuck)
* 1 can 'condensed cream of mushroom' soup
* 1 can 'condensed cream of celery' soup
* 1 envelope dried onion soup mix
* Optional (but worth it): 1 med onion (sliced), 1 lb sliced mushrooms, 1 cup red wine
In a crock pot, stir together soups. Then add meat (and other optional ingredients). Cook on LOW for 8 - hours.
Bake in a covered casserole dish @ 325° F for 3 hours.
Tah-dahhh -- Finished!
Serve over egg noodles or rice. Dollop with Sour Cream (if desired.)
Sit back and relax with your company. The dishes are few and they can keep!
Let me know how you enjoy, if you give our Beef Stroganoff a whirl -- after you and your belly go for a nice walk!
I look forward to YOUR recipes as well ... The more, the merrier!
