That 61% of Americans prefer thin-crust pizza?
That Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria (in Anchorage, Alaska) sells $6 million worth annually?
The way I get a piece of that pie is to always have on hand what is needed for toppings. Then, I make a fabulous crust, better than any others I've tasted.
A pizza crust should be a simple thing, but it's surprising how many of them just don't fit the bill.
This one will, I promise! But only if you want the same thing as me. To satisfy me it must be homemade, and very simple for anyone to do! And it must save a bundle of money!
I want my pizza crust to be easy to roll out, without me being frustrated, as the whole thing retracts like a rubber band, and it must be extra-thin crust if that's what I feel like at the time of making it.
It must be lastingly crisp on the bottom after baking.
If this is the kind of pizza you want, just follow this simple recipe. I guarantee you've never had a better one!
Let's get cooking!
Method
Have a flat baking sheet (or pizza baking stone) ready with a sheet of parchment paper on it, so your masterpiece doesn't stick.
Mix everything together with a wooden spoon. It will be a bit sticky. Put the dough on the counter, and knead with your fingers until it becomes smooth and supple. Only takes a couple of minutes with this dough. Place the dough in a bowl with enough room to rise until double. This quantity makes 2 large pizzas. Take half, and store it in the fridge for as long as a week. |
Spread it out ...
Press out the remaining dough from the centre to the outside. If you have a rolling pin, roll out in a circle, preferably on a piece of parchment paper. It should be about 14" round. But don't worry if it isn't round . . . just call it "rustic." Add whatever toppings you want, not loading it up too much. This is a thin-crust pizza! |
Bake in your preheated (450° F) oven for approximately 20 minutes.
When it's finished, you'll say, "Incredible!" and you may never want a bought pizza again!
Finished!
Please read about our recipe competition underway at this time.
This one doesn't count, but if you have not been a contributor to our wonderful fund raising M&M books, you have a great opportunity to alter that now!
The Mysterious and Miraculous team are waiting for more simple recipes to be donated for this wonderful cause so please visit the Legacy Archives Foundation website, take the time to get familiar with their volunteer efforts and prepare to be inspired!
Thanks a bunch for answering the call to help those struggling to find time or reasons for cooking! The deadline for our competition entries is July 31 2014. Details are on this post. The plan is to develop and publish a cookbook of simple recipes, and 70% of all proceeds from this will go to http://www.k9sforwarriors.org/
Wishing you all a great forthcoming weekend. And if you get a chance, please don't forget to thank a veteran.
That's it for now!
