Well, research shows a lot might be wrong with it.
You'd better have a sizeable bank balance if you're one of those parents. Apparently very young children ( and some of them are exposed to this type of technology almost from birth) demand to use it more and more. It is in effect the new pacifier. Very young children are awake for only 10 hours each day, and many parents confess their little one is on an iPad up to four hours a day.
Children as young as four are now in remedial psychotherapy, as their parents simply don't know what to do with the problem. In 2013 a 28-day digital detox hospital program in England reported on this as costing upwards of £16,000 for treatment.
Do take the the time to see this Amazon purchase you can make to supposedly help with potty training. Love to hear what you think of that! Or have I been in my garden so much I've missed a whole lot of things that are just commonplace now?
If those babies managed to escape the digital rehab programs, they're ripe and ready for some even more advanced psychiatric attention at the teen point.. Research shows brain development continues for the first 25 years of life. Coincidentally, this age group seems to be the heaviest technology users.
I liked this academic article because it seems I'm not the only person crying in the wilderness about this topic. Actually, it's recommended the parents get in on this too, ‘cause apparently a lot of them are digital addicts.
It's remarkable…there are actually songs about this. I chose the comic one, but the others are so weird they actually made my heart flutter! That's the problem when you have an analog brain in a digital world. Same lyric name, but whole different digital sound.
Put it this way...you can't hum to the digital versions!
The produce is starting to come in. Harvested the garlic planted in September last year. The peas are snapping delicious picked straight from the six foot high vines. The tomatoes are tall and laden with fairly large fruit.
Apples are developing after being well pollinated by the Mason bees. The flowers enchant me on a regular basis.
I could go on and on. I'm spending way too much time just being these days. But one garden event brought me to tears of wonder this week.
Blessed
They usually dunk themselves in the lower part of it. The water bubbles up through the centre, flows gently down the sides and then recirculates.
I was sitting quietly, just looking outside when a little hummer arrived.
It hovered and took a delicate sip of the cool water. Then it was tempted to paddle a little further to the bubbles. All of a sudden it threw caution to the winds, and submerged itself, doing little barrel rolls in the shallow, bubbling water on the top.
It was one of the sweetest things I've witnessed!
I didn't dare move, so no picture, but I wish y’all could have seen it.
After about a minute it rose up out of the bubbles, shook the water off, and sped away like a jet propelled Tinkerbell!
What a blessed moment in time.
