Some of you lovely people who follow my writing know that I struggle with housework. It's never been a joy for me. I've never felt compulsive about a thinnish layer of dust over things. It's life. Dust comes. And when, in a burst of frantic housecleaning energy it goes again, I know it will only be for a short time. It's just a fact of life.
My dust is not selective. It gathers quietly, remorselessly, unseen until it's too late, onto all horizontal surfaces. It gathers so quickly, so sneakily behind doors, in corners, against walls, on tables and floors. Specks of it fasten onto other specks until they link up in small light grey, imitation DNA strands called dust bunnies. How do they do that?
In the past I looked at my dust bunnies with a cold and critical eye when their size attracted my attention. But today I'm here with a joyful heart to tell you that I've found a way to finally be almost dust free! Best of all, it's easy, fun, powerful and quick! It's called a spin mop.
I've resented and detested many mops in the past. This is no ordinary mop. It has its own high tech pail with a basket inside, that is automatically lowered or raised by the mop as you use it. But in this case, there truly is no better way of demonstrating or explaining than by using a video!
Mop enthusiasm? Really? I need a rest . . !
It's Earth Day on Wednesday this week! Now for the Moments!
The little tomatoes are ripe and ready to eat! Not only that, but the lettuces are magnificent. Salad tonight!
Oh, and wait 'til you see my beautiful passion fruit plant! Remember, I started it from a seed last year? (It's featured in the new Impossible Gardening video below for you.)
This year I'm hopeful that I might get at least one fruit from it. Shall I dare to hope? I'm thinking these might be very small buds of magnificent flowers and fruit to be!
The blueberries are in full blossom, delighting the honey bees, and me! In the vid you'll see how you can grow a blueberry bush and strawberries together in a big pot! Just remember they love acidic soil, so save those coffee grounds and keep dumping them in the pot!
My good friend femmeflashpoint has exercised her considerable talent this week to give you this glimpse of my gardening efforts! Such fun! This is the first of a series titled Impossible Gardening. If you don't see any captions, please go to the little thingy underneath the video that looks like a pair of glasses, and click it. Took me forever to figure out why I couldn't see them, and the video doesn't make much sense without them!
Droughts and Difficulties
It's time to think about our earth as has never been done before. The California drought grows worse by the day. Farmers' fields are without crops. There's not enough water to sustain them. There's hardly enough water to sustain the population for more than a year! This isn't just their problem. It affects everyone.
Events on our planet, wars and pestilence, man's inhumanity to man continue to threaten global wishes for peace and goodwill towards each other. Earth day doesn't mean just planting a tree. It means each person resolving to do their very best in their own tiny space to make a better world. If only that could happen. Earth Day should be every day, for everyone.
Thanks for reading today, and here's hoping Earth Week will be meaningful and productive for you.
