My grandson Mark and I used to get together every year for a fishing expedition of some kind. When he was younger I'd go to him, and we'd end up at some lake, always talking about our mutual love for various things in nature, and always we'd come ‘round to fishing.
Then he got his driver's license. Oh, wow, that was good! Now he could drive on the ferry to me. We got my fishing license. He already had his, of course. |
That night we sat outside, the two of us, chatting, cooking crabs, cracking and extracting the meat from them. It was a very special time. We both have Little Chief smokers. They're standard equipment for folks like us.
He's into big time fishing now. He has a beautiful ocean kayak, and recently bought a lovely small boat.
Oh, and he also ties his own flies for fishing!
A couple of weeks ago I smoked some of my salmon fillets, enjoying the process. In fact I found a way to give you my dry brine smoked salmon recipe in the following slideshow. It was fun.
This summer it seems there's something missing... It's Mark.
